Hi! I’m Lacey. I was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. I am married to the love of my life (Zack) and mama to two lovely, vivacious little girls.
I was a hairstylist for 7 years and a former “craftsman” at a local photography album company. I am new to the stay-at-home mom world, trying to find my groove, slowly figuring it out.
Mental illness has always been a part of my story. And in the last year I have felt God nudging me to share the messiness of it all. The parts that may not be “pretty” or comfortable, and the hope that I have found in the darkness.
After my most recent bout with clinical depression, I longed to connect with others who had felt this way before (and had made it to the other side!) After googling for hours, I still felt alone. Again, I felt prompted to share my story.
Writing has always been a personal outlet for me, but I never envisioned being quite this vulnerable–it can be really scary to put yourself out there! But if I can help even one person feel a little less alone in their mental health battle, it will be worth it.
The stigma surrounding mental health can make those suffering feel so isolated. I think sometimes the bravest thing we can do is share our stories. To say ‘Here I am. This is what mental illness looks like. This is my normal.’
Clinical depression and a Generalized anxiety disorder do not define me, but they certainly tint motherhood, marriage, faith, and life. And I want to always share that if I can.
I am not a licensed psychologist and I do NOT have it all figured out. But I have a BIG desire to be candid about my experiences, so here we go!
I would love to hear your story and connect with you. Let’s be friends and walk this road together 🙂
